"An explosion of high-energy, positive creativity."
That's what comes to mind when I think about our upcoming event, Creative Frequencies. Beyond Buckskin is teaming up with the colorful artist collective, Rezonate Art, to bring you an exciting, multidisciplinary, multidimensional fusion of fashion, art and music during the week of the annual Gathering of Nations powwow in Albuquerque, NM. I hit up Rezonate leader and artist extraordinaire, Warren Montoya, for a quick conversation about our collaboration.
BB: Warren! Thank you for taking the time to chat with me about Creative Frequencies. I'm so excited about this event - I think it's going to be a big hit! Can you tell us about how the idea for this event came about and how it grew from a thought to a large-scale art extravaganza?!
WM: Well, its always been something I’ve wanted to do with Rezonate. Attending art shows, markets and festivals is really fun but I think there is something to be said about producing a show on our own terms. I am incredibly excited be able to features the awesome artists that Rezonate and BBB work with. I am also really excited to be including other organizations , schools and companies that are doing awesome work in Native communities as well.
BB: From the live art, to the light show, to the fashion show, to the artist booths and vendors - there's so much to look forward to, but which aspect of the event are you most excited for?
WM: Oh man, we’ve been working so hard and in the mix of all of it, that really, I cant wait to just experience the whole show. But I am really exited to vibe out with all types of like-minded people. Its incredible how art and music can inspire unity and joy and how awesome it is when everyone is riding that wave at the same time. So, I’m really looking forward to that!
BB: Since Beyond Buckskin is entirely online, I'm excited to connect with our customers and supporters, and to reconnect with the designers, collaborators, and models - I think the people make the event, and we've got a great team working with us! Can you speak to the importance of hosting events like this and the importance of collaborating?
WM: Well, producing this large of an event has been an incredible amount of organizing and planning, networking, footwork. But along with that, its been really fun getting to know so many awesome people. The more people that we brought in to be a part of this, the more beneficial and easier it seemed to become. I feel this speaks toward the strength and energy of what we are working to accomplish, not only for our companies or the artist but for our whole community.
BB: Is there anything else you want you share with our readers?
WM: The most important thing I want to say is thank you to everyone who has helped to bring us this far. Its all really exciting, especially because this is only the first of many more awesome things to come! So thank you very much for all the awesome ways that you support our work and we hope to see you at Creative Frequencies. Much love friends!
